Welcome to Advanced Hoops
Advanced Hoops officially began in the summer of 2001 under the direction of Charlie Fortney’s Summer Basketball Camps. For the past 17 years, Charlie has worked closely with Gerald Jarmon and other professional coaches to develop a comprehensive training program that currently reaches over 1,500 kids annually. Advanced Hoops has become a full time program that reaches kids from K – 12th grades. We provide a year round basketball training experience that offers classes in the areas of 5v5 Instructional Games, Professional Shooting & Dribbling Instruction, Quickness/Strength training and so much more. Our training programs focus heavily on Skill Development of the individual in order to build a strong base of fundamentals. Advanced Hoops also emphasizes the importance of Christian Character & Academics that youth can aspire to achieve.

Gold Level is "A" level AAU Basketball. Players in 4th through 9th grades are eligible for this placement. A level AAU Basketball is a chance for players to compete against A level AAU teams that are comprised of the top players in their age group.
Silver Level is "B" level AAU Basketball. Players in 4th through 9th grades are eligible for this placement. B level AAU Basketball is very competitive with teams comprised of many players who have made their school teams and have been successful.
Teams will be limited to 10 players (some teams possibly 11). Players will be placed on appropriate teams that fit their competitive needs according to the assessment made at the tryouts.
Tournaments will be used to allow players to develop their game. Winning will be a by-product of doing things the right way. Emphasis is put on scheduling tournaments that are within reasonable driving distance to avoid unnecessary expenses when at all possible. Showcase Teams will be the exception to this rule as players at that level will need to travel to the Tournaments where College Coaches are attending.
Man to Man is taught to make players better defenders both on and off the ball. We feel that Zone has little value in the off-season and can often hurt players that do it all the time in AAU. It can teach players to stand around and become extremely lazy defensively, therefore we will primarily be playing a solid fundamentally sound brand of Man to Man defense.
Emphasis is put on Motion Principles so players can learn to make decisions. Running plays are okay, but teaching players to make good decisions is better for development. Plays and different entries are good to assist players in getting scoring opportunities after movement is established.
